Travel Essentials in the Tropics
Despite the relaxation enjoyed on the actual vacation, the stress of booking flights, taxis from the airport, resort fees, and packing is enough to make you want to tear your hair out. Although, with these helpful tips, maybe your time (and hair) can be saved.
Tip #1: Don't over pack// no one wants to have to pay extra fees for multiple bags on a flight. Depending on how long your stay is, you might need to wear some outfits more than once. Bring pieces that can be easily paired with others such as plain t-shirts or tank tops and medium wash jean shorts.
Tip #2: Dress for the weather// make sure whatever you end up packing is made out of light airy material (like a thin cotton tee) because many places have high humidity. Most likely, you won't need anything heavier than a light jacket in case of a tropical rainstorm. Even then, you probably won't need anything more than a few good shirts.
Tip #3: The Bathing Suit Debate// as far as bathing suits go, it's up to you to decide whether or not you want to wear a bikini or a one piece. It's your body, so wear what you feel best in. But, at the same time, don't be afraid to experiment a little and go outside your comfort zone. You might be pleasantly surprised by what you find.
Tip #4: Versatility Pieces// sun dresses are the perfect paradise apparel because they can be a simple pool-side cover up, or, with a statement piece of jewelry, they can be great for a night out. As for tops, keeping it simple is key. Lightly patterned tops pair great with jean shorts and maxi skirts alike. No one expects you to dress to the nines. This is your vacation and you should wear what makes you feel cute and comfortable at the same time.
Tip #5: Accessories// bring 1-2 pairs of cute yet cheap sunglasses (just in case they end up at the bottom of the pool). Additionally, bring hats. Floppy hats, baseball caps, etc, whatever you like. The sun can do some serious harm so make sure to sunscreen up before you head out and have fun.
Now you’re ready to go, you travel educated person. You’re prepared to have the most well deserved vacation you can have, in the breeziest, easiest, and trendiest way possible.
