Resisting the urge to eat out isn't always as easy as it seems.  Busy schedules can make it difficult to prepare healthy food at home, at times eating out can be the only option.  Having a meal at a restaurant doesn't mean you have to give up all of your healthy eating habits.  By having a little self control and making some easy changes, dining at a restaurant can turn into a healthy alternative.

Portion Control// it is a known fact that restaurants are notorious for having large portion sizes.  Cut calories by ordering the smallest size, or by sharing a meal with a friend!  It is important to remember that almost every restaurant has to-go boxes available, so you don't have to force yourself into finishing a whole meal.

Choose Water// an easy healthy choice to make at a restaurant is to skip the soda.  Soda is full of empty calories and jam packed with sugar.  Sick of water? Try ordering a sparkling flavored water or add a lemon to change it up.

Be Smarter than the menu// often times restaurants use deceiving words to make you think what you are ordering is healthy, when it really isn't.  Just because something is advertised as low carbs doesn't mean it is considered low calories or fat. Ask for the nutrition facts to help make you make the most educated choice.

Following these easy steps can make eating out a healthier option.  One little change can make a huge difference in your nutrition.
