Chicago is an amazing city that’s full of exciting places, award-winning restaurants, fun sports teams, and breathtaking views.  I am fortunate enough to have family in the city so I know my way around pretty well.  If you ever have an opportunity to visit Chicago here is a list of recommendations to make sure you get the most out of your trip!

Eats//

Mia Francesca’s: Mia Francesca is an Italian restaurant with a couple of locations throughout the city.  The menu covers a large variety of traditional Italian food the is exquisite. You will not leave hungry.

Pizzaria Uno: Pizzeria Uno, and it’s successor, Due, is a Chicago classic.  It is known for it’s classic, and famous deep-dish pizza.

Fanny May: Fanny May is a chocolate shop native to Chicago.  With amazing quality sweets and unique flavors, Fanny May is a necessary stop during your trip.

Landmarks// Chicago is full of beautiful and fun landmarks.  Many you have probably heard of, but even if you have been to the city hundreds of times they are still fun to visit. We definetely  recommend just walking through the city, even if you don’t have a specific destination in mind.  You never know what you will find.  However, if you do need recommendations, any of these are sure to give you a great photo-op, and a fun experience you can only get in the Windy City.

Bean Sculpture: this sculpture is located in Millennium Park, which is another beautiful place to walk around.  The sculpture is like a giant mirror and as you walk around it, you get to see so many different views and unique angles of the Chicago skyline.

The Willis Tower: now many of you probably know this building by the name of The Sears Tower.  This building was renamed when it was re-purchased a couple years ago.  Names aside, this tower is 108 floors, and you can go all the way up.  When you are that high up in the sky you see Chicago in a whole new way.  At each end of the room, there are maps that point out all of the stadiums, theaters, and other well-known Chicago buildings.  It is truly an experience you have to see to understand its true awesomeness.

Lake Michigan: Chicago is lucky enough to have the views of beautiful Lake Michigan.  Heading down to the beachfront of the lake, whether it is summer or winter is a great idea.      The views are beautiful, and watching the waves as the wind carries them towards shore is incredibly relaxing.  The shores of Lake Michigan are a great place to sit and eat a snack, or walk along when you need to think.

Navy Pier: if you’re walking through the city and you see a big Ferris wheel you have found yourself at Navy Pier.  A location of fun activities and great restaurants, Navy Pier is extremely family friendly and a great place to enjoy your afternoons.

Shopping// like many bigger cities, Chicago has many places to shop.  Michigan Avenue and Water Tower Place are the two main shopping hubs in Chicago.  Between the two of them you are bound to find what you’re looking for.  Chicago also has brands you know and love, and they are huge: Nike, Burberry, TopShop, and many more.

Entertainment// if the city life itself isn’t enough to entertain, the city of Chicago has plenty more to offer.

Theatres: for those who love a good show, the city is full of theaters, many of which have a showing of shows before they hit the Broadway stage.

Sporting Events: for the major sports fans out there, Chicago has great stadiums that provide a fun atmosphere.  For those looking for a sports experience that is different to most, we 100% recommend attending a Blackhawks hockey game.  Blackhawks games are a must-see experience for any sports fan.

Museums: between the Field Museum, the Shedd Aquarium, The Planetarium, or the many Art Museums, everyone you are traveling with is sure to enjoy the amazing knowledge and activities the museums have to offer.
