Undeniable Life Guide to Hilton Head Island, SC
Hilton Head Island is a popular vacation destination during the summer for families from everywhere on the East Coast to Georgia to Ohio. While it’s easy to lay on the beach all day and soak up the sun, it’s fun to get out of the condo or hotel and explore what the island has to offer. Whether you want to have an adventurous experience or a relaxing getaway, there are so many options that can make your vacation the best it can be!
Do something fun on the water: there are so many marinas on the sound that offer fun water activities like paddle boarding, kayaking, parasailing, jet skiing, and banana boating! Go early in the morning to beat the heat (we know, it’s so hard to get out of bed early while on vacation).
Take a boat ride: Harbor Town is home to so many options for boat rides. There are so many fun options like sailing and riding on a catamaran at sunset. Take a ride on the Stars & Stripes, the boat that won America’s Cup and grab dinner in Harbor Town when you get back!
Ride a bike: Hilton Head has great bike paths all over the island and bike rentals are relatively inexpensive. Grab your bike and explore on the beach or ride to a fun place for lunch or ice cream!
See Gregg Russel under the tree at Harbor Town: Gregg Russel has been performing in Hilton Head for over 40 years and is a favorite for visitors of all ages. He sings songs anyone can sing along to and brings the cutest kids on stage to sing their own songs!
Salty Dog Café: this is one of the most well known restaurants on the island. It has a great atmosphere with plenty of outdoor seating and a menu that has something for everyone.
Hudson’s: great spot for seafood and hushpuppies on the water. The outdoor seating is too cute, especially when it cools down as the sun sets and the twinkle lights come on! They have any type of fish, shrimp & grits, fried chicken, and coconut shrimp, what else could you want?
Guiseppi’s: if you’re at the beach for a week, you are guaranteed to have one day when you are tired of going out for dinner and just order pizza. Guiseppi’s is a great local option for thin crust pizza.
The Quarterdeck: it’s always fun to see the lighthouse at Harbor Town, so why not eat underneath it? The Quarterdeck has great outdoor seating options and an extensive menu with everything from seafood to burgers to salads.
Hilton Head Diner: this diner is always busy and it’s easy to understand why. The menu has anything you could want and everything is so good (especially the desserts)! It’s a great spot to grab breakfast as you can get any flavor pancake or waffle you could want or huge servings of French toast, or even hashbrowns. Stop by after a round of mini golf next door for an ice cream sundae!
The fun boutiques at Harbor Town where you can find Lily and Vineyard Vines, HHI souvenirs, as well as trendy boutique items.
Salty Dog T-shirt shop: Did you really even go to Hilton Head if you didn’t come home with a Salty Dog T-shirt? Go to the larger store just around the corner from the Salty Dog. It has the same stuff as the one above the restaurant but it’s easier to move around and get a good look at everything.
Outlet malls: Hilton Head is home to two Tanger Outlet malls, so those rainy evenings at the beach can be spent bopping around to the outlet stores. They are less than one mile away from each other, so it’s super easy to hit both of them up in the same day!
