Your Travel Guide to Bora Bora
Bora Bora is the definition of paradise. It has it all: sandy beaches, crystal-clear water, towering palm trees, seclusion, and so on; however, when travelling to Bora Bora, you might be tempted to simply relax on the beach the whole time versus exploring what Bora Bora has to offer. If you ever happen to find yourself on this breathtaking island, you can use the list below as a guide of “must-do’s” in Bora Bora.
Travel to the Main Island// as most of the hotels and resorts are on the outside rim of the lagoon, it’s likely you will not stay on the central island of Bora Bora. It’s tempting to stick with the activities that occur outside of the main island, however, with just a ten minute boat ride, you get to experience a completely different culture with new restaurants, attractions, and more.
Watch the Sunset// this might seem obvious, but is an absolute requirement! Laying back on the beach and watching the sunset is one of the all-time highs of this trip
Paddleboarding// because Bora Bora’s beaches are on a lagoon, there aren’t many big waves, which means surfing is difficult to attempt, but don’t worry, paddleboarding is an excellent substitute. Paddleboarding is simply standing on a surfboard with a paddle and going out to sea. Though it is more calm and relaxing, it is still a thrill to experience.
Local Food// trying local food is one of the primary ways to truly embrace another culture. Now, you might be thinking that adapting to other tastes isn’t your forte, but, from my own experience (I have one of the pickiest palates of anyone I know), the Tahitian food is now an all time favorite.
Learn Some Tahitian// though you obviously won’t become fluent, learning some phrases like “Hello” and “Thank you” can be very helpful when communicating.
Scuba Diving// this should be at the top of your list. Bora Bora is considered to have some of the clearest waters in the world, so the scuba diving is fantastic. Immersing yourself in the habitat of the sea life will show you another side of earth you couldn’t even imagine.
Zipline// although you might spend most of your time on the beach, Bora Bora has another great attraction: the jungle. Ziplining through the forests is a great way to bring out your adventurous side!
Bring a GoPro// this is an absolute must. Capturing your favorite parts of the trip without being worried about ruining your camera gives you so much relief. Whether it’s taking selfies at the beach or capturing the essence underwater sea life while scuba diving, the GoPro is a life-saver!
Stay in an overwater bungalow// Staying on one of these will make your vacation complete; the perfect recipe for paradise!
