Staying True to Yourself

On one of my first podcast episodes that I uploaded on soundcloud, I talked about “Learning Not Care What Others Think Of You.”  I think this is a very important topic to discuss because we all have been through this at one point in our lives, where we care so much about what others think of us.  That we often lose ourselves in the process and forget about what makes us happy.

Growing up, I never cared too much about what other kids thought of me. Don’t get me wrong, it did cross my mind from time to time. Yet, it still was not that much of big deal until I encountered my first issue when I was around the age of 12 or 13. To put it plain and simple, the girl never liked me. Not because I did something to her, but just because I was being me.

When I asked her one day, “ Is there a reason why you do not like me?”, she basically responded by saying, “I just don’t like you.” The rest is history, and I never talked to her again.  After the incident,  I realized that I needed to accept the fact that not everyone is going to like me.  Even as harsh as it may sound, I had to learn to live for myself and not care what others think of me.

The truth is, everybody is going to have an opinion. People will talk about you until the day that you die and there is nothing you can do about it. The only thing you can do is let the haters talk and live the best life you can live.  Be the best version of yourself that you can be without any doubts or inhibitions. Embrace the person that you are today and know that you are beautiful inside and out.

No matter what anybody says, you have to know your own self-worth.  You have to know that no matter what anybody says, you will always stay true to yourself. Be happy with the choices that you make in life whether the outcome is good or bad. But most of all, live your life according to your own standards instead of someone else’s.

Too many times we get caught up in trying to make others happy,  that we lose our own happiness and miss out on the little things in life that are wonderful and beautiful.  Which is why I say, that you can not live your life for someone else.  You only get one life to live with no redos or repeats. Therefore, remember that whatever you do in life, make it count for something.

In conclusion, I would like to say that happiness is gift that we should all have. We should all be able to happy in our own skin and not let the outside world get in our heads. Whatever we do, people are always going to talk and have an opinion.
